On Friday night, Joseph Banks Secondary College was honoured to receive the Innovation of Learning Environment Design award at the Australian Education Awards 2024.
This prestigious category recognises not only outstanding building projects, but also how schools bring these spaces to life to transform teaching and learning. Our winning submission highlighted the unique role of the Western Australian Space Science Education Centre (WASSEC), and how it works alongside programs such as Digital Technologies, Robotics, P-TECH, Science, CORE, SciScope, and Integrated Studies to create extraordinary opportunities for our students.
Representing our school at the awards ceremony, Liz Smith and Eleanor Hughes proudly accepted the award on behalf of our community.
As one of only two public schools in Australia to be named a finalist, this achievement reflects the creativity, commitment, and collaboration of our entire community. We extend our congratulations to our dedicated leaders, staff, students, and partners for bringing our vision — Building Curious Learners — to life.
