The Western Australian Space Science Education Centre (WASSEC) brought the wonders of space to life at the Resources Technology Showcase, held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.
More than 2,000 students and visitors took the opportunity to “suit up” as astronauts and step in front of WASSEC’s green screen, choosing to float in space, stand on the Moon, or even become the first person on Mars. The hands-on display highlighted the excitement and possibilities of space science while inspiring future career pathways in STEM.
WASSEC was honoured to welcome the Minister for Science, Stephen Dawson and Minister of Education, Sabine Winton to the exhibit. Their visit provided an opportunity to share WASSEC’s innovative programs, including Mission to Mars, Plants in Space, and Cybersecurity, all designed to engage and inspire the next generation of future thinkers.
“We hope every student and visitor who stepped into our space experience left feeling inspired to reach for the stars—and perhaps pursue a future in STEM,” said Phil Wass, Director of WASSEC.
A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat, learn, and explore. We hope our display inspired you to reach for the stars — and perhaps even a future career in STEM!
