The Western Australian Space Science Education Centre (WASSEC) had the honour of hosting Shelli Brunswick, a renowned leader in the space industry, for an inspiring event aimed at igniting curiosity and ambition in the next generation of space leaders.
Shelli Brunswick, CEO & Founder of SB Global LLC, shared her wealth of knowledge with a handful of student from Joseph Banks Secondary College. With an extensive background as a former U.S. Air Force Officer and the former Chief Operating Officer of the Space Foundation, Shelli has spent over 30 years advancing aerospace, defence, and non-profit initiatives. Her passion for fostering space-related educational programs globally was evident in her dynamic presentation.
During her visit, Shelli was joined by Leigh Dawson and Anna Pascual-Lanning from the United States Consulate Perth. As part of the visit, they were given a tour of the WASSEC facilities, where they saw first-hand the impact the Centre will have on both future STEM education for students and professional development for teaching staff across Western Australia. The Centre’s innovative resources and programs are set to play a key role in inspiring and preparing the next generation of STEM professionals.
Shelli shared her insights on the expanding opportunities within the space and STEM sectors, encouraging students to think beyond the traditional career paths and consider the limitless possibilities that lie in space exploration. The session inspired many students, with numerous attendees staying after to ask thoughtful questions and engage with the speaker.
